"who is wise and understanding among you?".
"who is wise and understanding among you?
let him show out of his fine conduct his works with a mildness that belongs to wisdom.".
Thanks Blondie! Good Comments as per usual.
Loved this one:
14. Another example might be if elders in a congregation observe that one elder, though having served for some years, now clearly does not meet the Scriptural qualifications. Noting that the brother has received specific counsel in the past but has failed to improve, the visiting circuit overseer agrees and joins in the recommendation that he be deleted as an elder. How will he view that? Will he accept the elders' unanimous conclusion and Scriptural counsel in a spirit of humility and mildness and be determined to meet the Scriptural qualifications so that he might serve again? Or will he harbor resentment and jealousy over no longer having the privilege that he once had? Why would a brother act as if he qualified as an older man when in reality he did not? How much wiser it would be to show humility and be understanding!
Q. 15. Why do you feel that the inspired counsel of James 3:15, 16 is so important?
15. Granted, there are other ways that a similar attitude could appear. But whatever situation develops, we must work to avoid such traits. (Read James 3:15, 16.) The disciple James called such attitudes "earthly" because they are fleshly, devoid of spirituality. They are "animal" in that they are the product of fleshly inclinations, similar to characteristics of unreasoning creatures.
Such attitudes are "demonic," for they reflect the disposition of God's spirit enemies. How unfitting for a Christian to display those characteristics!
So if an elder or someone tries to contest an unfair "ruling" by the CO or Elder body they have a demonic attitude....Talk about brainwashing!!!!
i've heard the july 15th wt has new interpretations of jesus' parables - dragnet, mustard seed, leaven, etc.
has a pdf of it been posted yet?
or, perhaps i missed it?
My spouse has been looking over the article, who got very frustrated with it and stopped but I had to share with you some of their thoughts: In para. 10 of this WT article, it is said: "In the bible "leaven" is often used to represent sin". When actually it has ALWAYS represented sin! Leaven is mentioned 88 times in the bible....each time....NOT OFTEN....it means SIN. Another interesting point: The article's mentioned Leaven verse (Matt.13:33) is the only parable where a woman is the main character!
why is it soooo important to be a regular meeting attender when you can read the publication simply, at home?
they don't want you elaborating on the material.
they don't encourage doing extra research.
Don't forget...as my family told me:
"but jehovah's spirit is at the meetings"
And then they threw Hebrews 10 at me which I countered with:
Matt. 18: 20 - For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Still wasn't acceptable, .

where do bethel workers get their cars fixed?
do the bethelite mechanics fix it for free?
just wondering.
My friend tried to volunteer his mechanic services but his publisher card was not up to Bethel standards.
Blessing in disguise I say! ;)
my daughter exercised on a bicycle machine and her muscles swelled and caused a rare condition that put her in the hospital.
i can't remember the name of the condition but it is a serious problem.
it causes problems with your kidneys and other things.
Good thing you caught it now!!!
In my prayers,
Ruth

i was still in the "troof" a couple of years ago when my mom said that to my face, in front of my husband no less.. he was a jw as well, he couldn't believe it.
my reply was "well i will give my life to save my children and if god sees fit to punish me for that - that's his choice".
lily.
I am sorry you had to hear that from your mother.
Sacolton said it perfectly:
And people still don't think this is a dangerous cult?

I love how they just slid this tidbit in there:
"It is imperative, though, that all honest hearted ones allow themselves to be gathered into the vessel-like congregations before the final day of judgment and to remain in a place of safety."
Vomit....once again only JW's in the kingdom halls are going to be in a "place of safety".
Vomit.
